Job description
Workers will operate and maintain farm equipment and vehicles including (but not limited to) Combines, Cotton pickers, Grain Elevators, Sprayers, Tractors and other row crop machines. Workers will operate equipment to cultivate, harvest and seed row crops of Corn, Cotton, and Grain, load and unload trucks and grain elevators. Workers must possess 6 months of previous, verifiable equipment operation experience. Some workers with drivers licenses may operate trucks to transport crops (non CDL).
Special Requirements
Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated hours to be worked. These hours could increase or decrease based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor, and or productivity. Use of electronic devices during work hours is restricted to emergencies only. Drug testing will be performed post-hire, randomly, upon accident, incident, or suspicion and will be performed at the expense of the employer.
The nexus between the drug test to be conducted and the nature of the job opportunity lies in the fact that the employees are expected to operate farm equipment and vehicles that require the employee to be free of impairment. If an employees impairment is altered using drugs while operating farm equipment, then they risk the safety of the crops, themselves, and other employees. Drug testing that is random and upon accident, incident, or suspicion ensures the safety of the employees, the crops, and the equipment.
