Job description
Camp Cooks:
Incident to and in conjunction with other agricultural operations on the farm, workers will perform secondary agriculture functions, as described at 29 C.F.R. 780.105 (c), that include assisting in maintaining food inventory and stocking supplies, preparing and serving food, and associated farm labor kitchen maintenance and general clean-up of kitchen and service area, sanitizing of dishes, pots and other items used to prepare food, delivery of meals to workers in the fields, and provide food service in compliance with applicable health and safety regulations. All work described herein is provided directly to agricultural workers employed by the employer.
In the event that an employee is unable to perform the tasks mentioned above, the workers may perform alternative work for the period under the restrictions (e.g., sweeping, housing assistance, painting, general clean-up,etc.)
Farm Labor Kitchen Crew:
Work is mainly performed in buildings but may also include some outdoor work. Work may involve exposure to various food prep equipment, such as knives, stoves, steam tables, dishwashers, sanitation sinks, hot carts, cooler, mixers, slicers, freezers and other kitchen related equipment. Workers may be involved in handling various raw or unprocessed food items that may contain allergen or pathogens, therefore workers will be required to comply with all applicable food safety standards as communicated by supervisors and manager. Workers may handle various standard household and institutional cleaning agent solutions that are FDA & EPA approved. Employer and workers will comply with all workers protection standards and restrictions applicable to cleaning solutions and/or other chemicals. Must pass a health food safety certification within 30 days upon hire. Workers will be instructed by supervisors or managers in assisting in maintaining work areas and company property in a neat and clean condition by sanitizing all work areas. Indoor kitchen facility temperatures can range from 50 Fahrenheit to over 90 Fahrenheit during the employment period. Outdoor temperature can range from 30 Fahrenheit to 100 Fahrenheit. Workers may be exposed to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold and other elements of normal outdoor environment.
Workers will comply with all provisions of this clearance order and company work rules, policies and procedures, and perform all assigned tasks in a professional and efficient manner. Workers may be subjected to disciplinary procedures if they are unable to follow such procedures.
The workers requested will be working full time in the fields assisting with the farm work.
Workers will perform assign duties as instructed by their supervisor.
Tobacco plantation: Workers will carry full tobacco plant trays in order to set tobacco by hand and by machine. When done by hand the worker will walk down the field make a 3 inch hole in the ground, place the plant in the hole, cover the hole firmly and space each hole about 12 inches apart repeatedly throughout the daily shift. When setting tobacco by machine the worker must drop one plant in each cone repeatedly every two seconds without missing a cone. Any cone missed will be then set out by hand.
Special Requirements
This type of work, involves working conditions that require tremendous stamina, a high level of physical activity in cold or extremely hot conditions in direct sunlight and in adverse weather such as rain. The work requires a high level of physical conditioning.
