Job description

Worker will manually plant, cultivate, and hand harvest perishable fruits and vegetables solely grown by Leitz Farms LLC and perform duties in conjunction with the agricultural production of Apples, Blueberries, Cucumbers, Roma Tomatoes, Grape Tomatoes, and Round Tomatoes as directed by Employer and/or Team Leader including but not limited to;

Walking Stooping Pushing Pulling Bending Lifting up to Seventy-Five Pounds Field Set-Up Tilling Soil Ground Preparation Planting Transplanting Replanting Harvesting Weeding / Brush Control Plastic Mulch Laying Lift Plastic Mulch Rolls Weighing Ninety Pounds (Coworker Assistance) Tunnel Assembly / Disassembly Staking String / Twine Tying Sprouting Young Plant Shoots Shoveling Sweeping Hoeing Digging Raking Thinning Pruning Crops Mowing Watering Trunk Painting Applying Fertilizers / Pesticides Fruit Tree Planting Clearing Field / Orchard Trees Drainage Tile Activities Pest Control Irrigation Activities Spray Crops Recording Crop Information Use of Hand Tools and Power Tools Operating Farm Vehicles, Machinery, and other Agricultural Equipment, such as but not limited to; Forklifts, Pallet Jacks, and Tractors Shipment Preparation General Packing and Storage Activities of Employers Produce, including but not limited to; Grading, Discarding, Sorting, Packing, Loading, Unloading, Palletizing, Assembling Containers / Boxes, Inventorying, Cleaning, Disinfecting, and Sanitizing Deliver Agricultural Product to Market or Storage General Repairs and Maintenance of Farm Vehicles, Implements, and Mechanical Equipment Repair Farm Buildings and other Structures Conduct Various Field and Farm Clean-up Tasks at End of Season such as; Stake Pulling / Bundling, Cutting String / Twine, Pick Up Plastic and Drip Tape, Clear Debris Engage in Land, Water, and other Cultivation Activities.

Employer owns and/or operates worksites. Employer provides worker with the appropriate training, instructions, and general oversight for specific job duties. Employer provides worker with the necessary tools, equipment, machinery, and farm vehicles. Workers must comply with all safety, security, and quality practices and policies of Employer for all job duties.
Worker may be required to safely operate farm tractor at/to/from worksite(s), including tractor attachments, as directed by Employer. Employer will provide additional training for this task. Worker may not operate tractor unless has completed training provided by Employer. Worker must report any issues immediately to Employer or main farm office prior to use.
Worker may be required to safely operate farm forklift at/to/from worksite(s), in the field and in and around farm buildings and farm property, as directed by Employer. Employer will provide additional training for this task. Worker may not operate forklift if has not completed Employer provided training. Worker must report any issues immediately to Employer or main farm office prior to use.If worker is eligible to drive under Michigan law, worker may be required to drive Employer-provided farm vehicle at/to/from the worksite(s) and to other locations as directed. To be eligible for driving job, worker must understand and agree to driving rules as outlined in work rules. Worker must report any issues immediately to Employer or main farm office prior to use.

Special Requirements

JOB REQUIRES WORKER TO COMPLETE TASKS IN:
Blueberries Cucumbers Roma Tomatoes Grape Tomatoes Round Tomatoes Apples. Employer will provide instructions and training on specific job duties.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
90 verifiable days of agricultural experience on a commercial farm operation in fruit or vegetable harvest / production required. Applicants must furnish verifiable job references from recent employers within the last 5 years establishing acceptable prior experience.

Drug testing done at employers expense and not utilized as preemployment tool.
