Job description
Prepare for calving season. Calve out calves during the calving season. Medicate, vaccinate, and treat for seasonal sicknesses. Care for newborn calves and nursing mothers. Isolate sick calves. Fix and repair fencing damaged by drifting snow. Move cattle to and from summer grazing pastures. Wean all calves during the weaning season. All livestock activities will occur at the employer's own operation in Veblen, SD. The contract also includes custom combine duties that will occur at that farm as well as the others listed in Addendum B. Prepare fields for planting. Pick rocks and operate tractors to till the soil. Operate farming equipment in order to plant, spray, fertilize, harvest and haul grain and soybean crops. Operate self-propelled custom class harvesting machines to harvest and haul a variety of grain crops. Service machinery and make in-field repairs. Stack and bale hay. Transport crops to storage facilities. General farm upkeep duties such as facility maintenance and shop work.
Special Requirements
Must be able to provide references to verify experience. Must be able to work for the entire itinerary and join the employer at any one of the locations that the employer has a crew located at that time. Drivers license in 30-days. Clean driving record required. No educational requirements.
