Job description
Work is Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with 1 hour, unpaid, lunch. Operate trucks to haul sugarcane from farm to mill/market. Inspect cargo to ensure it is properly loaded and/or secured. Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, performing minor repairs, or washing trucks. Follow safety procedures for vehicle operation. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Requires a commercial drivers license. Repair and maintain vehicles, implements, mechanical equipment, tires and trucks. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned are provided to the worker, without charge or deposit. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract. Housing is provided at no cost for workers who cannot reasonably return to permanent residence at end of workday. Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in a working environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment. Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce workers guarantee over the life of the contract.
