Job description

Assist with the planting and harvesting of peanuts. Workers are expected to walk the length of the field multiple times a day while carrying 5-gallon buckets weighing up to 70lbs when full. Workers are expected to be able to shovel peanuts onto conveyor for sorting, be able to cover harvested peanuts with tarps and if needed, perform ditching, shoveling, hoeing, hauling, post-harvest activities and other manual field maintenance tasks. Workers must lift up to 70lbs, carry, and load/unload products or supplies, assist with farm building/field maintenance and cleanup activities. If able, applicants may be asked to operate tractors and/or other mechanized farm equipment while assisting with planting and harvesting activities. Workers may be selected to perform activities listed in the job description based off skills, experience and/or license classification. Only those who meet all necessary qualifications may operate vehicles, tractors or equipment. Employer maintains the right to terminate an obviously unqualified worker or any worker who is physically able but is unwilling to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow and harvest a premium quality product, or for any other lawful reason.

Special Requirements

This type of work, involves working conditions that require tremendous stamina, a high level of physical activity in cold or extremely hot conditions in direct sunlight and in adverse weather such as rain. The work requires a high level of physical conditioning. Due to the type of work involved, if worker can not maintain the level of production set forth by the farmer, the worker will have to be terminated for being unable to complete the work as deemed in this order.
