Job description
To effectively manage and control recent PRRS outbreaks, the workers will handle and remove existing hogs from affected areas safely and humanely. The workers will haul live and dead hogs away from affected sites via pickup towing gooseneck trailers and with semis. They will ensure the proper transfer and disposal of affected hogs in accordance with biosecurity guidelines and conduct thorough cleaning and disinfection of all hog housing facilities, equipment, and surrounding areas to eliminate potential sources of infection. During cleaning procedures, the workers will follow recommended biosecurity protocols to prevents the spread of the PRRS virus. The workers will transfer feed from farm to farm with semis following strict biosecurity protocol to control the spread of PRRS to uninfected hogs. Additionally, they will assist with the reception and unloading of new hog shipments, monitoring and maintaining appropriate health and biosecurity measures for incoming hogs. The workers will be responsible for monitoring the health and well-being of newly arrived hogs and promptly reporting any signs of illness or abnormalities to farm management. Special Requirements
Must be able to follow detailed biosecurity protocol as well as follow safety protocols and work together to maintain a safe working environment. Exposure to cleaning chemicals. Must be able to work in cold weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds for 75 yards. Post-employment drug test is paid for by employer when applicable for safety purposes. Commercial Drivers License or ability to obtain one required.
