Job description

We need seasonal employees to assist with growing and harvesting sod, trees, and plants which only grow during the period of April-October. Job duties will include: clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping, cut, roll, and stack sod, dig, cut, and transplant seedlings, cuttings, trees, and shrubs, dig, rake, and screen soil, filling cold frames and hot beds in preparation for planting, harvest plants, and transplant or pot and label them, haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss, and other materials to condition soil, using wheelbarrows or carts and shovels, maintain and repair irrigation and climate control systems, move containerized shrubs, plants, and trees, using wheelbarrows or tractors, operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops, plant, spray, weed, fertilize, water, and prune plants, shrubs, and trees, using gardening tools, record information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs, regulate greenhouse conditions, and indoor and outdoor irrigation systems, repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment, repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures, set up and operate irrigation equipment, sow grass seed, or plant plugs of grass, trap and destroy pests, such as moles, gophers, and mice, using pesticides, build agricultural structures, clean equipment or facilities, evaluate quality of plants or crops, load agricultural or forestry products for shipment, maintain operational records, operate farming equipment, operate irrigation systems, perform manual agricultural, aquacultural, or horticultural tasks, plant crops, trees, or other plants, and prepare land for agricultural use. Employees will need to provide updates to supervisor. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Special Requirements

Job requires frequent stooping or bending over. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must have a regular driver's license. Requires 2 months farm experience.
