Job description

This position works on a small crew of farm laborers performing organic farming-related tasks as directed by the crew leader, including weeding, and harvesting a wide variety of herbs and spices, thereby contributing to the successful growth of the organization.

Key Functions/Responsibilities:
1. At all times follow good agricultural practices and company safety policies.
2. Perform hand/manual work in the field to include weeding with hand tools, harvesting plant material and loading/unloading harvest material.
3. Help with daily cleaning of tools

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the work with or without reasonable accommodation, as follows:
* Stand and walk for long periods of time (8-10 hours/day)
* Perform repetitive tasks/motions
* Distinguish colors
* Have good manual dexterity
* Have good eye-hand-foot coordination
* Have clarity of vision: Near (<20”); Mid (>20”-<20’); Far (>20’)
* Ability to kneel, crouch, crawl or climb frequently
* Heavy Work-Exerts up to 100 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. frequently, and/or up-to 20 lbs constantly with or without lifting aids.

Special Requirements

4e) Must be able to lift and/or load 50lbs. When lifting loads heavier than 50lbs, use two or more people to lift the load.
4g) Work may take place when temperatures are below freezing and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
4h) May require extensive pulling and/or pushing of tools, wheelbarrows, fruit containers, etc.
4i) May require the worker to sit and/or walk for extended periods of time while sorting, picking, examining, weeding, transporting, pruning, etc.
4j) Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor such as weeding, irrigating, pruning, picking, removing debris, etc.
4k) There will be repetitive movements while performing most of the farm labor duties, for example picking, sorting, pruning, shoveling, weeding, etc.
