Job description

Duties include planting/caring for seedlings including watering, pruning, staking, fertilizing, and pest control. Unload, handle, and sort seedlings and liners when delivered. Cultivate fields and prepare for planting, including soil preparation. Cultivate rows to prevent weed growth. Perform daily watering as needed. Harvest, move, and transplant field-grown and potted plants. Balling/burlapping trees with mechanical spade. Prepare trees/plants for safe/proper loading and transport. May use tractors, farm implements, skid steers, and front loaders. Perform routine equipment maintenance as needed. Maintain machines, hand tools, and irrigation for daily use. Set up irrigation systems including monitoring and expansion. Will be expected to use shovels, pruners, sprayers, and other hand tools. Greenhouse and barn maintenance as needed. Assist with inventory and preparing for the upcoming season. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., and be able to sit, stand, crouch, and squat repeatedly for long periods of time. Hours may vary based on weather and crop conditions. Saturday work required when necessary. Post-accident or upon suspicion drug testing completed at employer’s expense.

Special Requirements

Drug testing required post-accident and upon suspicion at employer expense to both domestic and H-2A workers for safety of workers and clients. Mountain Medical Center conducts the drug testing for Grasshopper Gardens, Inc. Employer agrees to provide to the worker, without charge or deposit charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned.
