Job description

Worker will use backpack sprayers and hand tools to apply herbicide to control or clear vegetation from utility rights of way, rangelands, wildlife areas, roadsides, industrial sites, and other areas carrying up to 35 lbs of equipment while walking up to ten miles a day on rough terrain often in adverse weather conditions (hot weather, poisonous plants, insects, and snakes). Worker must be able to apply 20 gallons of spray mix in an eight hour period after three weeks of training Work will be done on tracts of land varying in size from less than an acre to 1,000's of acres Duties will be performed in areas as determined by an itinerary in accordance with Forestry Rules [Gal I-97] [FR Doc. Special Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years of age and available to travel overnight for extended periods of time. Required skills are foliage identification, herbicide handling, safety procedures, and low volume herbicide techniques after three weeks of company training. No previous training required but must attend company paid training at the start location. Progressive Solutions maintains a drug free workplace, and workers may be subject to post-employment drug testing as required by government contracts. Trainees who hold a valid drivers license, meet all company driver standards and pass the company driver test may be offered additional work hours to transport workers and/or materials. Weekly work hours can fluctuate due to weather and contract schedules with some Sat and Sun work required.
