Job description
SUMMARY: Floating support position is to assist the Packaging and Shipping Supervisors in areas of need on any given day. ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties as assigned. 1.Handle cartons of fruit, restack cartons weighing up to 45 pounds, and handle empty pallets weighing up to100 pounds. 2. Work on pallet repair as necessary. 3. Work on sweeping, cleaning, painting and other miscellaneous duties assigned. 4. Take a carton of fruit from pallet and place it on a packers horse or box track; 5.When ready take the packed carton from the packers horse or box track and stack it on the pallet; 6. Perform general labor and clean up, including sweeping, stacking pallets and other duties as assigned. 7. Distribute fruit wrap, chipboard, jiffy pads, and other packaging supplies as necessary. 8.Clean areas where packaging supplies are stored in the packaging line area, to include: picking up fruit from the floor, removing paper and other debris from the area, and sweeping the general area to keep it clean. 9.Removing cartons of cull fruit from the packaging area and dumping those cartons into the cull bin. 10. Filling cartons with fruit from the off-grade tub and emptying those cartons into the off-grade bins. 11. Pull tags off of bins entering presize machine. 12.Ensure bins entering presize machine are correct according to the run sheet.13. Confirm that the correct color coded identification tags are fed into the label Printer; 14. Accurately generate and place cull and off grade bin tags on bins in a timely manner. 15.Continually monitor bin tag information on bins exiting the machine. Communicate to the supervisor any errors. 16. Responsible for the accuracy of all outgoing shipping activities. 17. Assist as needed in transferring of packed fruit inventory within the computer system. 18.Checks drivers in and prioritizes order of loading. 19. Helps hauler determine legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states. 20. Print bills of lading, sign out drivers at completion of loading. 21. Maintain records concerning use of palletized loads. 22.Record spilled fruit (where it happened, what variety, wt. where it is going-garbage, juice etc.) 23. Cross-train employees as needed. 24. Use scanner as needed. 25. Any other general duties as assigned by the supervisor. Physical Activities: Average hours per week: 40 (More during receiving) Shift: Days / Swing Type of equipment used for this position, with frequency of use: Occasional use of: Rope, Scanner, Computer, Pencil, Broom, Paint brush. Frequent use of: Box of packed fruit, Box cutter, Hammer, Staple gun.

Attendance: During shipping and receiving times attendance is critical. Person must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to45 pounds. Must be able to move at will to and from scale house to the growers truck during receiving and between shipping office and shipping dock when shipping. Sensory requirements: Must be able to expressor exchange ideas by means of the English spoken word.
