Job description

Responsible for acting as a tertiary member of the Nursing Team during the night shift, which includes the Nurse and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Performs stocking of patient rooms and specialty carts or areas on a routine basis. Ensures that patient daily hygiene needs are met (i.e., bathing, brushing teeth, changing of bed linen, etc.) that are appropriate under their scope of practice and under the direct supervision of the bedside nurse or CNA. Assists with distribution and clearing of dietary trays. Transports appropriate patients and other appropriate items, as needed. Notifies appropriate licensed personnel with patient complaints of needs/pain. Performs duties of one-on-one sitter for patient safety under policies and scope of practice. Measures and records food and liquid intake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical or nursing staff. Transports appropriate specimens, laboratory items, or pharmacy items, ensuring proper documentation and delivery to authorized personnel. Provides physical support to assist patients to perform daily living activities, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising. Ensures patient rooms are neat and tidy. Strips beds/rooms after discharge, ensuring rooms are ready for environmental services. Assists with patient positioning, oral care, feeding, as appropriate under CNA or nurse supervision. Assists discharged patients and family members to vehicle after discharge by licensed personnel. Coordinates and performs appropriate patient care under the direct observation of the nurse and/or CNA. Performs general administrative duties as required (e.g., emails, filing, ordering supplies, etc.).

Special Requirements

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program within 6 months of hire.
