Job description
Equipment operator mechanics service and repair agricultural equipment used to haul citrus, vegetables, and other agricultural commodities from the fixed-site agricultural properties of the Association's Growers/Members on a seasonal basis and during harvest season. Must have a valid drivers license or equivalent license. Must maintain a suitable driving record and be insured by the employers insurance company. If involved in an auto accident which you are found to be at fault, you will be subject to termination.
Workers may be tasked with driving other workers between employer-provided housing and the primary worksite, or to other on-farm worksites to service or repair agricultural equipment, using an employer-provided pick-up truck.
Employees must have sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a mechanic shop environment; walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and twist, push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; operate assigned vehicles and equipment and verbally communicate information. Monday through Saturday, 40 hours per week. Workers will work 7AM to 3PM. Workers may be requested to submit to a background check and random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. All testing will occur post-offer/pre-employment and is not part of the interview process. If involved in an auto accident which you are found to be at fault, you will be subject to termination.
Work Environment: Primarily in a shop environment, occasional field environment with some travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, and all types of weather and temperature conditions; exposure to hazardous traffic conditions; work and/or walk on various types of surfaces or terrain.
Special Requirements
Criminal background check and drug testing. Florida Growers Association may conduct a criminal background check and/or drug/alcohol test at the employer's expense on all new applicants post-employment. Failure to pass criminal background check and/or drug/alcohol screening is grounds for termination.
