Job description
We are a seasonal oyster processing plant in need of seasonal plant workers starting October 1, 2024, to June 1, 2025. Duties: Plant workers will gently place oysters on conveyor belts for the oysters to move from washers, graders, shuckers, and packagers within our processing plant. Plant workers will wash the oysters, removing any debris or mud from the oyster's shell; plant graders will sort and grade oysters based on size and quality using a series of screens with different-size holes to separate the oysters by size; plant workers will use shuckers to open the oysters and remove the meat from the shells using manual knives; upon completion, the processing of oysters plant workers in packaging department will pack oysters in containers or boxes filled with ice, then seal them for shipment or pickup. Oyster plant workers will wear personal protective equipment, such as gloves, aprons, and safety glasses, to protect themselves from cuts and other hazards.
Special Requirements
Must have 3 months work related experience; able to stand to perform duties; work in a cold and wet environment; work on a rotating scheduled.
Rotating Schedule: Monday to Friday (6:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM or 10:00 PM TO 6:00 AM);
and Saturdays (6:00 AM to 11:00 AM or 11:00 AM to 04:00 PM or 4:00 PM to 9:00 AM or 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM or 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM
