Job description
Job requires the operation of various tractors and farm equipment to tend to cattle, harvest hay, bale hay, maintain farm grounds, and transport cattle. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, sprayers, mowers, skid steers, catch pens, chainsaws, ATVs, UTVs, feed trucks, and pickup trucks with stock trailers. Job also requires feeding and watering livestock, mixing feed, lifting bags of mineral and hay bales, putting out rolls of hay, spraying cattle for flies and other pests, checking livestock, assisting with vet visits, assisting with medication administration, processing livestock, planting grass, tilling pasture, and cleaning pens. Workers will participate in penning the livestock in pastures and moving the pen boarders as necessary to move the livestock between fields/pastures. Workers will be required to perform general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, property boarders, buildings, and all farm equipment; maintain farm grounds using mowers, edgers and other hand tools; ensure operational areas are organized and well maintained; use hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery and agricultural equipment; and regularly servicing equipment. Job will require riding horses to catch, herd, and sort livestock. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, or walking. Random drug testing may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure safe housing and work environments for all workers. Positive drug test results or refusal to comply with testing may result in termination of employment.
