Job description
We are primarily a corn/soybean/wheat/hay operation. Most of the planting and harvesting will be done in the spring through fall months. We have requested employees from March through December because that will be the most intensive time of the year for us. We will be preparing everything for the spring planting starting in March. Planting may run through June and we will also be cutting and baling hay from May through August. Wheat harvest usually occurs in June. July will be cleaning equipment, servicing everything to prepare for the fall harvest, spraying the crops, and fencing. We will start chopping silage for the cattle in August and then follow that with corn and bean harvest in September through November. December will consist of hauling a large portion of the grain and cleaning harvest equipment. General farm labor with cattle may be offered as a last resort. The non-H2A months are shorter days and mainly consist of haying cattle. The days are less intensive and less help is needed during those months. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, manure spreaders, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, handtrucks, forklifts, or transfer augers, load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery, attach equipment extensions or accessories, load crops and unload crops, drive farm trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment drive farm trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals, herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures, inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences, move equipment, poultry, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts, operate farming equipment, transport animals, crops, or equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion., Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
*** For 2025 and all future applications the starting date will be March 1 to cover the entire season.
Special Requirements
Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures, extensive pushing or pulling, extensive sitting or walking, frequent stooping or bending over, repetitive movements. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Must have a regular driver's license. Require 1 month farm experience.
