Job description
The Center is for yearlings, two-year-olds in training and layups. These horses are considered race ready two-year-olds in training, they have to be trained. Over the next several months all yearlings begin incremental introduction to have tack on their backs, add a rider to spin in their stalls, walks in the paddocks and ultimately running on the training rack. The rider's responsibilities include responsibility for the safety of the horses and nearby workers. Getting the horse used to having a rider on its back; assisting in the observations of any ailments or infections which may affect the horses; rehabilitation exercises, conditioning. Breeze work or sprint the horses for the prospective buyers. The sales start at the end of September and continue through June, to have the horses ready, the company needs the additional riders no later than the last week of September. The employer has had a huge increase in the numbers of horses coming to him, mainly because of the national attention the company received since he trained the winning Kentucky Derby horse for this year.
