Job description
Farm equipment operators will drive farm trucks to haul truckloads of freshly harvested apples and deliver to storage and packing facilities owned by Teeple Farms Inc. All trucks are rated at less than 26,000 GVW.
Will also be responsible for picking up and hauling empty containers from those facilities and returning them to home farm.
Regularly climb into and out of trucks. Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure. Secure cargo for transport using cargo straps. Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Maneuver trucks into and out of loading and unloading positions. Load-unload trailers and cargo. Handle equipment and cargo carefully to prevent damage. Interact with roadway officials. Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspection and paperwork on trucks and trailers. Clean/maintain lights, windows, and mirrors, and vehicle exterior. Add engine oil and fuel as needed. Must be able to drive in rain, snow, and other hazardous conditions as needed. Drive in both on-road (paved) and off-road conditions. May drive other vehicle types. Read/comprehend traffic signage and directions. Workers may also use forklifts as directed.
Special Requirements
Workers referred against this order must have a minimum of 6 months of verifiable experience performing tasks described in this order. Clean driving record required. Must have or be able to obtain a commercial driver's license, or equivalent, within 30 days of hire. Employer requires all-newly hired employees to take and pass an employer-paid background check. All background checks are conducted uniformly after an initial job offer has been extended and accepted by the new hire. Employer-paid post-hire drug and alcohol testing is required after an accident at work. Any worker who declines to take or fails a drug or alcohol test will be immediately terminated. Due to health and safety concerns relating to pesticide application and the operation of equipment on or off our farm, workers are required to have the ability to comprehend simple oral instructions in English.
