Job description

Possible weekend/holiday work. Duties may include: Operate various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and harvest / transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to - tractors with various implements, combines, skid loader, pay loader, and work trucks. Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, or manure, and other materials to condition soil. Duties also include performing general upkeep, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, buildings, and all farm equipment; cutting and baling hay; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; changing combine cutting heads; and picking rocks as needed. Livestock duties to be performed will be in seasonal nature related to the fattening of the livestock to go to market. Duties may include: Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures, feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies, mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions, examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain, clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps, shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food, & other related Farm Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2093 (onetonline.org).
