Job description

Bar Tab LLC grows cotton, corn, milo, millet, wheat, rye, sunflowers, and hay on 4000 acres of row crop land in the southern Texas Panhandle. The farm headquarters is located 10 miles west of Plainview, TX. We use Deere equipment to harvest the grain and cotton crops; the cotton strippers are 8-row basket-type harvesters. Our tractors are Deere with Trimble GPS, and our sprayer is Deere with Deere GPS. Our planters are Case 16-row. The crops are irrigated with center pivots supplied from submersible wells, with half of our land under irrigation and half dry land. I begin preparing the land and equipment for planting in late February. Harvest begins in September and concludes in mid-December. Job duties include preparing fields for planting, attaching farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors using bolts and hand tools, operating tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, and irrigation equipment. I engage in planting, weeding, spraying, and harvesting activities, as well as fertilizing, dusting, and spraying crops with pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus, weed growth, and diseases using hand sprayers. I irrigate soil using portable pipes or ditch systems and maintain ditches, pipes, and pumps. Additionally, I install, maintain, and repair pivot irrigation systems, load and unload crops and materials manually or using conveyors, handtrucks, forklifts, or transfer augers. I manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust machinery mechanisms, mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery. I observe and listen to machinery operation to detect malfunctions, attach equipment extensions or accessories, load and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, complete maintenance and repairs on irrigation equipment, record agricultural data, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, and inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion., Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
