Job description

Off shore fishermen needed aboard commercial fishing vessel. Requires knowledge of crab catch and rope splicing technique, continuous lift of 90 lbs crab nets. Work is performed at sea, aboard ship.
Fisherman will deploy, retrieve, launch and clean fish/shrimp nets. Other duties are
routine fishing equipment maintenance, including wire repair of holes in traps, ensuring properly functioning hardware, inspection of ropes, as well as perform rope splicing and knot tying technique. The Fisherman will use seamanship and marine safety procedures. Work is performed at sea aboard a fishing vessel. Actual daily employment start and end times may vary, depending on weather conditions that affect crew safety.

Special Requirements

REQUIRES KNOWLEDGE OF COMMERCIAL CRAB CATCH FISHING TECHNIQUE. MUST BE ABLE TO CONTINUOUSLY LIFT 90-POUND CRAB NETS THROUGH THE WORKDAY. REQUIRES KNOWLEDGE OF ROPE SPLICING TECHNIQUES AS WELL AS WIRING AND REPAIRING NETS. MUST PASS DRUG TEST PURSUANT TO US COAST GUARD REGULATIONS.
