Job description
Workers are responsible for erecting agricultural buildings for livestock confinement systems on farms. Worker duties include measuring and marking cutting lines on materials using rulers, pencils, chalk, and marking gauges, shaping or cutting materials to specified measurements, and assembling and fastening materials to make frameworks or props using wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue. Other duties include erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level, installing structures or fixtures such as windows, frames, flooring, trim, or hardware and removing damaged or defective parts of structures for repair or replacement. Workers will study specifications in blueprints, sketches, or building plans to prepare project layouts and determine dimensions and materials required. Additionally, they will anchor and brace forms and other structures in place using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, wedges, and timbers, install rough door and window frames, subflooring, fixtures, or temporary supports in structures undergoing construction or repair, and dig or direct the digging of post holes and set poles to support structures. They will also build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, handle hazardous materials, and perform minor plumbing, welding, or concrete mixing work. Special Requirements
Three months of construction framing experience required, can work unsupervised. Must be able to follow detailed biosecurity protocol as well as follow safety protocols and work together to maintain a safe working environment. Must be able to work in cold weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds for 75 yards. Post-employment drug test is paid for by employer when applicable for safety purposes. The workers will be exposed to heights, strenuous physical activity, and repetitive motions. The workers will also need to know proper and accurate use of tape measures.
