Job description
Workers will perform all job specifications as instructed by the Farm Manager. Employees should adhere to all personal and equipment safety requirements. Duties may vary from time to time and may include all of the following job specifications:
Welding: Operate a welding machine to fabricate metal products or assemblies, using tools to measure workpieces to ensure specifications.
Field Walker: Workers may assist their supervisor in monitoring that harvesters don’t leave fruit behind, and that overripe fruit is being removed from the plant. May be assigned to communicate to other workers the plan for the day as defined by the supervisor. Maintains work area clean and free of objects that may cause accidents. May be assigned to clean up trash, excess materials, and prepare the harvest trailer for the next day, and to ensure clean and fresh water is always available. Ensures that other workers have the required tools to perform their job.
Farm Equipment Operation:
May be necessary to assist in the use or operation of farm equipment such as tractors, trucks, and harvest machinery.
Tractor driving: May be assigned to drive tractors.
Truck driving: May operate a farm vehicle to move the harvest trailer inside of the farm as necessary during the workday. May be assigned to load agricultural products into a farm truck and drive it to the storage facility that is between 1.5 miles to a maximum of 16 miles from the farm.
Van Driving: May transport other workers in a 15-passenger van, from the field to the work site and back, requiring a regular license. May transport workers on a weekly basis to get groceries. Workers must be able to obtain or possess a Florida non-commercial driver's license.
Irrigation pumps: May be assigned to turn on water pumps for irrigation as instructed by their manager. Ensure that the irrigation systems are running properly. Inject fertilizer and chemicals as instructed by the manager.
Special Requirements
The employer will request a criminal background check at the employer's expense. The first 7 working (business) days of employment are considered as an introductory period as set forth in the Company Employee Handbook. This will be time to learn and understand tasks involved in the job position.
