Job description

Worker will perform basic livestock management functions, which includes the following related duties: hoof trimming; treat does for internal and ectoparasites; vaccinations; and preventive and therapeutic treatments.

Worker will perform doe kid evaluation/doe kid sales, which includes the following duties: develop evaluation sheets for partner; prep online sale does for clipwork: hoof trim, wash, blowout; prep doe kids for other sales; transport does for consignment or pickup; and haul culls to livestock auction.

Worker will perform recipient/commercial doe management, which includes the following duties: evaluate, sort existing recipient does; assist in procurement of replacement recipient does; and process incoming replacement recipient does: vaccination, worming protocols and re-tagging.

Worker will also perform buck management, including the following duties: pick up, return bucks from partner in Mason using 14 foot trailer pulled by a pickup truck; onboard bucks for flush and natural cover: vaccinations, other treatments as needed, such as sarcoptic mange, viagra regimen, etc.; and handmate for selected matings.

Furthermore, worker will perform embryo transfer functions (process is completed 4-5 times in the fall). This includes duties such as deploy and retrieve teaser bucks; deploy CIDR?s in recip doe group; deploy CIDR?s in donor doe group; rehydrate hormonal treatments; FSH injections 2X daily for donor group; recipients: pull CIDR?s, PG600 injections; donors: pull CIDR?s; donors: handmate and record (24-36 hour function); each doe bred every 4 hours until out of estrus; recipients: redeploy teaser bucks, record estrus activity; donor, recipients: pen, pull off of feed and water; prep work areas, equipment in advance of flush; assist technicians in administering sedation and securing donors, recipients in gurneys; assist in prepping donors, recipients: shaving, disinfecting; administer antibiotic, estrumate; and assist in ultrasound operations. Commercial doe operations.

Special Requirements

Three (3) months of previous experience in breeding goats. 75-pound lifting requirement. Able to withstand extreme weather conditions. Must have excellent English communication skills. Must demonstrate ability to learn, observe, solve problems. Must come with demonstrated work ethic and self-discipline. Post-employment drug tests are paid for by employer when applicable.
