Job description

Duties may include, but are not limited to: hand raking, gathering, baling, stacking, applying and spreading pine straw, and loading of pine straw from standing pine plantation. Workers will first manually clear the ground of underlying plants, loose branches, pine cones, and any other debris. After clearing the tract, workers rake the pine straw and deposit it into a bailing box. Workers then load the pine straw onto trucks by hand. Individual pine straw workers will gather and bale approximately 200 bales of pine straw per day, covering about one acre of land. Piece rate may apply as follows: rake and bale: $1.00/square bale, $1.25/round bale and minimum daily production is 118 square bales per day or 15 square bales per hour; load bales: $.20/square bale, $.25/round bale and minimum daily production is 600 round bales per day or 75 round bales per hour. Not to fall below prevailing wage. Failure to meet daily production standards after a one-week training period may result in termination of employment. Rate may vary based on experience.

Special Requirements

Must lift/carry 75 lbs., when necessary and be able to lift/carry 75 lbs. to should height repetitively throughout the work day. Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. Prolonged walking, standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. All work is performed outdoors in the forest during all types of weather conditions. Post-hire employment eligibility check (e-Verify) required of all workers in the position, both foreign and domestic.
