Job description
Irrigators Duties:
Irrigators will handle a high-pressure water pump and run it during the work day. They will also be responsible for opening and closing irrigation valves, ensuring all sprinklers are working while system is running. Irrigators will take care of sprinkles and clear ditches to avoid flooding. They may use company pick-up trucks to travel between worksites and transport equipment and other workers to worksites during the workday. Only workers with a class C CA driver’s license or equivalent from another state may drive vehicles on public roads. Valid CA driver license will be required if driving off the fields. Irrigators will be responsible for maintaining irrigation main lines free of debris, as well as for the connection and disconnection of waters pipes including putting plugs at final pipe.
Special Requirements
Minimum Job Qualifications: 3 months irrigation experience required. Written verification of experience may be requested. Workers must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently. Work is performed outdoors in open fields and can involve exposure to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold and other elements of the normal outdoor grove environment. Temperatures can range from 20 degrees F to over 100 degrees F during the period of employment. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the work and working conditions described.
