Job description
Manual itinerant work mechanically planting tree seedlings, pre-commercial thinning, applying herbicides, pruning, and maintaining boundary lines to reforest and maintain timberlands. Use equipment in planting and thinning trees, spreading or spraying chemicals, preparing sites for planting, or performing other forestry services. Spray vegetation with herbicides to reduce competing vegetation. Lubricate equipment, fuel equipment, adjust equipment, and make emergency repairs to equipment. Conduct safety checks pre-operation, keeping job site clean, handplanting skips, assisting site foreman with any task when asked. Workers who hold or obtain a MSPA certificate with driving authorization may transport workers, count and check, and be offered additional work hours. Raises and/or bonuses may be offered based on individual factors including work performance, skill, and tenure. Employer may pay a piece rate of $15.00 - $80.00 per 1000 trees hand planted correctly or the NPWC issued prevailing wage for the area of employment, whichever is greater.
Special Requirements
Must lift/carry 50 lbs., when necessary. Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. Employer-paid drug test required of foreign and domestic workers prior to commencing work. Post-hire employment eligibility (e-Verify) check required of foreign and domestic workers. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.
