Job description
Prep cattle barns, pastures and feedlots at home for winter. Move cattle/calves home from summer pastures (mid-Nov). Wean calves. Fall/Winter pregnancy checking. Mixing of cattle feed rations on a daily basis. Feeding cattle/calves daily (silage, hay and supplements). Cleaning of feed bunks for livestock (snow and debris). Maintaining winter grazing fences. Checking/maintaining of water sources (tanks, stockdams). Open frozen water sources as needed. Cleaning of barns, feedlots and alleyways of snow. Maintain and prep hay/straw hauling equipment. Hauling and feeding of hay for livestock. Hauling and dispersement of straw for bedding of livestock in winter pastures and barns. Loading and hauling of livestock to market. Branding of livestock. Snow removal as needed in other areas of farmstead. Inspection and maintaining of summer pasture fences prior to moving livestock (starts mid-May) back to summer pastures. Inspection and maintenance of winter (home) pasture fences. Inspection/treatment of injured or sick livestock. Pulling calves as needed during calving. Bottle feeding calves as needed. Drive to town to pickup cattle supplies.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive sitting is required. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Overtime and taking holiday is mandatory. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
