Job description

Ginner/Press: Workers must be able to monitor and adjust equipment and controls. Some controls may be computer touch screen controls. Inspect machinery and equipment to ensure that it is clean and in safe working order. Following the directions of their supervisor, workers will perform some routine minor adjustments on equipment when necessary, using hand and power tools, occasionally while being 30 feet in the air. Must not be afraid of heights. Replace defective parts, components, or systems. Workers may be asked to do some minor welding. Workers must be able to walk, bend, and sit for long periods of time. Work is done in all kinds of weather (from extreme heat, rain, and extreme cold). Working hours may vary due to the availability of the crop, weather, conditions, mechanical issues, etc. Must be able to unwrap modules, limited work with a computer, and cleaning duties. Workers may be asked to operate a small tractor (under 75 HP) and drive a forklift with bale clamps. Workers will check and maintain proper fluid levels and refill propane tanks. Workers may be asked to operate a truck hauling a module on the gin yard only (NO CDL required and never used on the road). Safety training for the use of all equipment and tractors will be provided. May drive workers to job site and or grocery store. Workers must be able to work independently with minimum supervision. Workers should be able to conduct their jobs safely and responsibly and should not require constant supervision.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years or older. Employer may conduct background checks on all new applicants for employment. Must have three months experience in cotton gin processing. Workers must have three months experience in operating tractor and driving a forklift with bale clamps. Valid driver's license required if asked to drive company vehicles. Work begins at assigned time. Workers must not have any physical limitations that would prevent them from climbing up or down stairs and/or ladders. Workers must be able to work all day standing up. Workers should expect periods of little/no work during harvesting time. Hours and days of work may vary due to weather conditions. Workers must multi-limb coordination ability while standing and walking for long periods. Workers will make repetitive movements, extensive sitting, walking, lifting, repetitive movements, pushing and pulling, and stooping. The workers will need to be able to do some heavy lifting.
