Job description

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisors. Duties will include working in pecan orchard and related ground maintenance. Pecan Orchard duties may consist of picking up tree limbs and debris, applying fertilizer, pruning and planting trees, weed removal and mowing with small tractors. During Harvest duties include cleaning the orchard for harvest, harvesting pecans and cleaning pecans. Harvesting equipment includes mechanical harvesters, rakes, sweepers and a field pre-cleaner. Pecans are loaded onto trucks and sent to be dried and cleaned further. Drying and cleaning the pecans involves forklifts, small tractors and trailers. Loading, debris removal, drying, sorting, sizing, inspection and bagging will be performed using conveyor style belts and elevators, electronic sorting machine, sizers, aspirators and inspection tables. Workers will also use shovels, weed eaters, chainsaws, pole saws, tree pruners, backpack blowers, utility vehicles, small tractors, lawnmowers, and forklifts. May drive workers to the store and/or fields.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be 18 years or older. If driving vehicles, a valid drivers license is required. Three (3) months experience needed in driving a tractor or operating a utility vehicle. Employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new employers for employment at the owners expense. Workers must be able to Lift up to 50 lbs. Work in extreme weather conditions. Must be able to work with minimum supervision. The majority of the workday is spent on ones feet and outdoors. Workers may stand in one place for any period. Extensive walking. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach. Work is performed in outdoors agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, and other natural elements.
