Job description
Cattle conditioning – during Nov-Dec cattle are brought in and straightened out (Weaned, weight gain, health improvement conditioning, etc.). Cattle are turned out to desert pasture Jan – May is for grazing. Workers will check and repair fences, clean and maintain buildings, grounds maintenance, mowing, weedeating, and cleanup, wash and repair equipment, buildings and implements. Workers will haul water and feed for cattle. June, July and August- workers will check cattle for wounds, perform vaccinations, medicating, and general care needs, supplemental feeding if necessary.
During September and October, cattle are sold to market, the herd is reduced and the need for workers is reduced as the employer can take care of the cattle needs with the reduced herd and no need for water transport. Workers may be asked to work weekends when needed. During peak harvest season, workers can expect to work 50 hours or more.
Special Requirements
Hours listed in Section A.6 are the anticipated hours to be worked. These hours could increase based on weather conditions, crop delay, pests or disease, crop yield, available labor, and or productivity. Use of electronic devices during work hours is restricted to emergencies only.
