Job description

Performs various tasks related to farming, cultivation, and production of agricultural products. These tasks vary depending on the season:
In Spring, Farm Hand will be in constant communication with employer or experienced workers to learn about the planters; brings supplies out to the field, and reloads if needed to continue planting; cuts grass; cleans equipment; brings fuel out to fields as equipment needs to be refueled; loads and brings seeds out to fields; performs general preventative maintenance such as checking fluid levels, greasing tractors and planters, inspecting planters and perform repairs if needed; brings supplies particularly seeds, food, fertilizer or parts.

In Summer, Farm Hand cleans equipment used during spring; orders new parts and assists in their installation; ; sprays various locations to keep clean of weeds; loads third party's vehicles with grains from previous years to be delivered for selling; cleans grain facilities and shop; assists in moving supplies and equipment in preparation for harvest.

In Fall, Farm Hand checks trucks and trailers' tire pressure, checks fluid levels in vehicles; cleans up grain bin facilities daily; assists in moving equipment between various fields as needed; brings fuel out to fields multiple times a day; performs basic cleaning to prevent field fires; prepares harvest equipment such as changing knives, greasing combines, corn heads, and tractors; when needed, runs tractor and grain cart in field to dump grains into the grain carts; takes grain cart to parked semis and unloads full grain carts unto trucks; cleans equipment, trucks and grain facilities at the end of the harvest season.

In Winter, Farm Hand cleans and waxes all equipment used during harvest season; assists in tear down of various pieces of equipment to review for reuse and change worn out part; loads third party trucks with grain; spreads fertilizer, prepares land for growing crops (tillage), and organizes supplies for the upcoming seasons; plows snow to keep grain facility cleared for access to shipment trucks
