Job description
Workers will use a long-handled hoe (4ft or more in length) for weeding/hoeing fields of celery. Harvesting and packing celery. Harvesting celery stalks with an 8-inch celery knife making a diagonal cut at the bottom of the stalk. Then it's put on the machine table where it's packed in bags then into a box that weighs between 40-to 50 lb pushed on the conveyor belt and then loaded into the trailer. Employees are to be experienced in both cutting and packing due to their everyday rotation. Loading boxes of product onto truck. Operate agricultural equipment such as tractor. Workers may be asked to drive in the fields, clean, and perform inspections on product.
The employer attests that any thinning, hoeing, weeding, or hand-weeding work will be performed in compliance with 8 Cal. Code Regulations Section 3437, 3456(b-c).
Special Requirements
Employees must have 3-month experience in harvesting celery in order to properly and safely perform the tasks described to minimize injury to workers and products. Must be able to understand work & safety instructions in English or Spanish, the language written and spoken in the workplace. Work requires walking, lifting, bending and repetitive hand and wrist movement.
