Job description
Bring cattle back from summer pastures (October). Wean and vaccinate calves. Pregnancy check cows and vaccinate. Feed cattle daily. Salt and mineral cattle as needed. Check cows/calves daily for sickness and or injury. Maintain feed equipment. Maintain fences. Check water supply daily/break ice. Move cattle as needed. Prep calving facilities. Move in winter feed/prep as needed. Snow removal as needed. Begin calving in February and continue through May. Assist cows with calving as needed. Take care of orphaned calves as needed. Tag newborn calves daily. Brand/Work calves. Move pairs as needed. Clean facilities as needed. Prep summer pastures (fencing, water supplies). Move cattle to summer pastures (May). May need to drive to town to pick up cattle supplies on occasion.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Failure to pass drug screen will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
