Farm Worker

Job description

Farm is a raw milk dairy farm and delivers a large percentage of its milk to private individuals. The dairy slows down from June to Mid September because home owners leave for the summer during the extreme heat.

Duties:Wash the milking parlor walls, floor, ceiling, pit and pipelines with a solution of 5 gallons of hot water + 1 cup of soap + 1/4 cup peroxide. Prepare milk equipment and barn.
Take fresh cows to be milked and calves to the calf barn. Prepare cows for milking.
Milk cows when other workers are out sick or on vacation. Assist with drying off cows.
Prepare feed lanes Feed cows and calves.
Manage barley sprout Equipment by overseeing and managing barley sprout equipment.
Seed and harvest sprouts to maintain a fresh supply for the feed ration.
Clean and maintain the machines and sprout room.
Identify sick animals and work with veterinarians for treatment
Repair fences and water troughs.
Spread manure on pastures after scraping the barnyard, cleaning water troughs, and turning compost.
Maintain grounds, repair farm buildings as necessary
Assist by helping to build new barns to accommodate expansion of farm
Build and maintain pens and shades for the cows as needed
Operate and service farm equipment used for feeding cows and other tasks.
Keep accurate records of hay and feed inventory.
Load delivery truck with fresh milk and milk products. Unload empty crates.
