Job description

Delivering feed to the maternal herd as well as separate group of bulls which must be kept at a distance from the females. Fence repair/maintenance. Sorting animals into manageable groups. Moving/relocating animals from summer grazing pastures to wintering areas. Weaning calves from mother. Processing incoming calves, vaccinations, ID tags. Observe cattle for illness or injury. Processing feed such as rolling corn. Maintaining feeding equipment. Monitoring feed supplies, moving feed. Monitoring water supply and removing ice when necessary. Snow removal. Working cattle-pregnancy checking. Loading and unloading cattle trucks, both shipping and receiving cattle. Prepare heated barns for winter calving of first calf heifers who begin calving in February through March. Mixing and loading feed ingredients for weaned calves. Cleaning barns and outdoor pens as weather allows. Moving cattle back to pasture from winter feeding areas. Prepping and maintaining spring/summer pasture fences. Branding cattle. Calving cows in April and May. Moving cow/calf pairs from calving to summer grazing in June. Working spring born calves as they are moved to summer pastures.

Special Requirements

Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
