Job description

We have cattle that will need cared for through the winter months, from December to the end of March. They will be on rented cornstalks and moved to a dry lot until I send them to pasture. From there I lease them out in the spring through fall until the next winter. Duties include tending to the cattle while on cornstalks, checking their tanks to make sure none are sick, and doctoring when needed. In February the cows will need to be hauled to a dry lot where they will need hay daily. We also start our preparation for calving. When they start calving, cows will need to be checked a minimum of 3 times a day. Employees duties will include assisting with pulling a calf, doctoring babies, and tagging calves after birth. In March, they will get branded and get another vaccination before they are sent to summer pasture. Employees will complete general farm duties as assigned.
