Job description

Job requires tending to livestock in the forms of feeding, examining, tagging, and herding and operating various equipment including, but not limited to front end loaders, tractors, and trucks with goose-neck cattle trailers. Duties often require digging drain trenches with a shovel and scooping manure. Job will also require maintaining equipment pertaining to cattle, repairing and maintaining drinking water systems, cleaning pens and bedding areas of sick cattle/calves, mixing feed, lifting bags of mineral and hay bales, spraying cattle for pests, vaccinating cattle, calving cows and bred heifers, occasionally lifting and carrying newborn calves, weaning calves from cows, checking cows during the calving period, and maintain fences which may call for repair which could require the use of chainsaw, joe blade, and other manual implements. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often. Must be willing to work outdoors in all, varying weather conditions.

Special Requirements

Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, or bending. Random drug testing and criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure safe housing and work environments for all workers. Working in freezing temperatures is sometimes necessary. Must have experience with cattle feeding and working cattle.
