Job description

Key Responsibilities:
Cattle Care: Monitor and maintain the health of dairy cattle in feedlot, Identifying and addressing seasonal illnesses promptly. Assist with feeding and general care of cattle. Administer medications and treatments as needed under the guidance of a veterinarian.
Water Management: Ensure water sources remain unfrozen and accessible to cattle at all times. Implement and maintain systems to prevent water freezing, such as heaters and insulated water lines.
Snow removal: Remove snow from access roads, pathways and around the barn to ensure safe and efficient operations. Operate snow removal equipment, including plows, shovels, and snow Blowers.
General Farm Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm equipment and facilities. Ensure barns, sheds and other structures are in good condition and provide adequate shelter for livestock.
Environmental Control: Manage and maintain ventilation and heating systems in the barn to ensure a suitable environment for cattle. Monitor and adjust bedding to keep animals dry and comfortable.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of cattle health, treatments, feeding schedules, and other essential farm activities.

Special Requirements

6 Months of experience needed. Experience working on a dairy farm, particularly during winter months, is preferred. Basic knowledge of cattle health management and seasonal illness prevention. Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment, including snow removal machinery. Strong physical stamina and the ability to work in harsh winter conditions. Attention to detail and good problem-solving skills. Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic. Basic understanding of veterinary care and medication administration is a plus but not required.
