Job description

Farm worker needed for crawfish season followed by rice season. Seasonal need begins with crawfish season in January and continues into rice planting and harvesting in fall. Crawfish season extends from mid Janaury until early summer. Rice is planted in or around March. Harvesting of rice occurs during late summer and fall.

Duties: manually cutting fish bait; baiting and checking traps; grading and washing crawfish for shipment; making and repairing traps as needed; tractor driving; field preparation*; water maintenance; fertilizing, planting, and harvesting crops; repairing and maintaining equipment, fields, levees, roads, and shops.

* Field preparation includes manual shovel work and hoeing weeds, spot spraying treatments, and extensive walking;
Experience operating a crawfish boat desired.

Special Requirements

OPERATION OF FARM EQUIPMENT SUCH AS CRAWFISH BOATS TO HARVEST CRAWFISH AND TRACTORS TO PREPARE LEVEES AND FIELDS.

Workers may be required to take random, post-accident, and/or upon suspicion drug test post hire at no cost to the worker. Any drug testing would be post-hire and would be at the expense of the employer, not the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. it is important to the employer that workers be drug free while working and operating equipment as part of the employer's farming operation.
