Job description
Performs any of the following tasks to herd cattle and manage mob grazing on cover crop land through winter months: Establish and maintain electric fencing, move cattle to grazing areas 2 to 3 times per day, ensure adequate food source and provide additional feeding station if necessary, haul water to grazing areas and replenish 2-3 times per day, monitor cattle health closely by examining for disease or injury, provide medical care to cattle if necessary, monitor general herd health for winter parasites and treat as needed, monitor herd closely when weather conditions become harsh, assist in calving deliveries, tag and closely monitor newborns. Drive to town to pick up supplies for the cattle. Mob grazing of cattle on cover crop land during winter in Missouri will require day long and nighttime monitoring.Livestock: Beef Cattle
Special Requirements
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
