Job description
Assist with the annual seasonal livestock breeding/birthing process. Calve out calves during the calving season. Vaccinate, medicate, and treat for seasonal sicknesses. Care for newborn calves and nursing and/or pregnant mothers during the fall, winter and early spring months when they require additional care due to fluctuating temperatures and seasonal sicknesses. Isolate sick calves. Monitor pregnant cows, nursing mothers and newborn calves. Tag calves. Transport hay bales and silage. Feed cattle during snowy/subfreezing periods when no seasonal pasturelands remain available to naturally graze upon. Add dry bedding. Remove snow from farm property. Break ice formation in water tanks daily. Fix and repair fencing damaged by drifting snow. Move cattle to and from summer grazing pastures. Wean all calves during the weaning season. General farm maintenance duties such as servicing equipment and shop work.
Special Requirements
Drivers license in 30-days. Clean driving record required.
