Job description
Receiving stocker calves; checking calf health daily, administer medicine as necessary, prepare fence on rye, oats, and turnip cover crop pasture, portable corrals, feeding, and watering equipment; put calves on cover crops for grazing, move calves from field to field to take full advantage of forage; provide mineral to reduce risk of bloat, provide feed to supplement diet during extremely cold weather; monitor animal health; inspect, maintain, prepare, repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences; haul water to cattle, break ice in watering facilities; pull calves off cover crop pasture; sell stocker cattle; remove temporary fence and corrals; driving farm vehicle to obtain feed and livestock supplies; minor daily and incidental upkeep to livestock equipment; must speak English.
Special Requirements
Be able to work in extreme conditions such as heat, humidity, wind, cold. Lift and carry supplies. Follow instructions. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license within 30 days following hire and obtain clean driving record to be able to operate company vehicle. Lift up to 10 lbs.
