Job description
The job will require workers to do the following tasks during the winter months: feeding and watering livestock daily, checking livestock, assisting with vet visits and medication administration as needed, replenishing straw for bedding to lay on in pens, cleaning pens, and operating equipment to grind hay to prepare for rationing straw for bedding which must be done multiple times a week. job also requires performing general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pens, property borders and farm equipment in use; ensuring feed lot areas are organized and well maintained; and using hand tools and equipment to do repairs as needed. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and engage in various general functions in relation to hay and livestock duties. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy skills are required. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to varying weather conditions and extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, or bending. Random criminal background checks may occur post-hire at the employers expense. These checks may be performed to ensure a safe housing and work environment for all workers.
