Job description
Moving cattle home from summer pasture in October to winter corrals. Fall cattle work/pregnancy checking. Weaning and tagging calves. Feeding livestock after the grass dies each fall as well as when existing feed is covered with snow. Working and vaccinating livestock. Maintaining feed /snow clearing equipment. Maintenance on seasonal equipment. Inspect livestock for illness/injuries/frostbite. Maintaining winter grazing fences. Prepping ranch water lines/water valves/wells for freeze. Breaking ice on frozen water troughs. Snow removal on trails and against fences. Moving mature bulls to market - this is only done during the coldest months of the year to ensure a good winter hide. Moving cattle to calving pastures in January. Prep barns and cattle for calving. Calving begins end of February through March. Cleaning tumbleweeds off fences to prevent drifting.
Special Requirements
Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen post hire at employers expense due to the liability of operating equipment. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm and expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive pushing and pulling is required. Extensive walking is required. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
