Job description
Clean work areas, machines, or equipment, to maintain a clean and safe job site. Fasten timbers or lumber with glue, screws, pegs, or nails and install hardware. Perform tie spacing layout and measure, mark, drill or cut. Select tools, equipment, or materials from storage and transport items to work site. Drill holes in timbers or lumber. Cut timbers, lumber, or paneling to specified dimensions. Position and hold timbers, lumber, or paneling in place for fastening or cutting. Align, straighten, plumb, or square forms for installation. Hold plumb bobs, sighting rods, or other equipment to aid in establishing reference points and lines. Erect scaffolding, shoring, or braces. Construct forms and assist in raising them to the required elevation. Install handrails under the direction of a carpenter. Glue and clamp edges or joints of assembled parts. Smooth or sand surfaces to remove ridges, tool marks, glue, or caulking. Secure stakes to grids for constructions of footings, nail scabs to footing forms, and vibrate and float concrete. Cut and install insulating or sound-absorbing material. Cut tile or linoleum to fit and spread adhesives on flooring for installation. Cover surfaces with laminated plastic covering material.
Work at height, if any, should be limited to 25 feet or below. No certifications or educational qualifications apply. Safety training provided.
Special Requirements
Must not be afraid of heights. Must be able to lift and carry 75lbs/75yds. One (1) month of previous carpentry experience preferred. Post-employment drug tests are paid for by employer when applicable. Workers will work on their feet in bent, stooped and crouched positions and on ladders up to ten (10) feet in height for long periods of time. Employees must be able to lift and carry materials or equipment with a weight of 75 pounds frequently throughout the workday. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking. Workers should be physically able to do the work required. Workers will be expected to work on days that are deemed workable by Employer's management. Disciplinary action may be taken if worker does not show up for work due to stated conditions. Workers are expected to be at work on time every day work is available and to work the full workday as specified in this job order.
