Job description
Dig trenches 4-6 inches wide and 5-8 inches deep using trenching and spade shovels and flat wire trenchers to run sprinkler pipes and/ or sprinkler wires underground from one point to another point. Install and adjust sprinkler pipe, heads and lighting fixtures, trenching. For lighting fixtures no specific training or licensing is required, the fixtures installed are LED 12-volt lighting fixtures. The installation of lighting fixtures includes burying wire for the 12-volt fixtures and connecting 2 silicon wire nuts for the fixtures. Worker will remove rocks from the ground, the type of rocks that may be encountered could be the rocks of Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia and Montgomery County, Maryland include igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks; rocks range from 3 to 12-inches in diameter and weigh less that 25 pounds. If we are excavating dirt to install a pipe and there is a small rock in the soil, we remove the rock and take it to the dump. If it is possible to put it back in the soil we will but if not we will remove with our hands and place it in a wheelbarrow and put it in our truck. These rocks are usually small in size and under 15-20 lbs. The rocks are removed manually with shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows and there is no specific training on the use of shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows. However, employer provide training multiple times per year on safety related to lifting, digging and carrying items. Tamping soil and other basic labor duties. A hand tamper is used to compress and level soil after a trench is completed and refilled. A hand tamper weighs approximately 10 lbs.
Special Requirements
Must lift/carry 50 lbs., when necessary. Weekend and overtime work required, when necessary.
