Job description
Van Drivers:
VAN DRIVER SPECIFICATIONS:
1. Employees may drive vans (not buses) over the road.
2. Employee picks up workers from different housing sites/pick up points and takes them to an assigned work site and at the end of the workday takes them back to the housing site/pick up point. Employee will also work in the assigned crew
All employees in this position (H-2A as well as corresponding domestic workers), will be given the opportunity to obtain a driver’s license (DL) on a voluntary basis. The DL is not a pre-hire job requirement. No job applicant will be denied an employment opportunity due to a lack of a DL at the time of application and/or hiring. Further, no worker (H-2A or corresponding domestic worker) will be terminated for failure to obtain a DL or FLCE Certificate. Employer will pay the costs associated with obtaining a driver’s license, if necessary.
Vineyard Worker (Wine Grapes)
Work on grape crop, including:
August, September, and October: harvesting
October and November: harvest
Workers will also set up and operate a tractor
Erect irrigation equipment. Operate Irrigation drip system, open / close valves and monitoring for leaks.
Special Requirements
Must have 1 month of work experience working with wine grapes in vineyards, including harvest wine-grape work as described herein. For drivers and tractor drivers, must be able to drive vans and operate tractors. Workers must be able to lift 50 lbs frequently. No smoking, drinking, or illegal weapons or controlled substances in the fields or in housing. Cannot be color blind due to the need to distinguish colors of crops. Able to stoop, bend, and work in cold and wet conditions. Able to use tools such as pruning shears, grape knives, hand saws, and shovels. Safety use and training is provided by the employer
Work is performed outdoors in open fields and can involve exposure to sun, wind, mud, dust, heat, cold and other elements of the normal field environment. Temperatures can range from 20 degrees F to over 100 degrees F during the period of employment. Workers should come prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear for the work and working conditions described.
