Job description
Job duties include operating large farm equipment and machinery equipped with GPS for cultivating, tilling, fertilizing, planting, harvesting grain; transporting grain from field to storage and field to commercial facilities; and driving pickups to obtain parts and supplies. Equipment that employees will operate includes but is not limited to tractors, combines, trackhoes, sprayers, backhoes, vacuum planters, trucks, augers, hopper bottom trucks, and grain carts. Non CDL farm trucks will be loaded with agricultural products and driven on the farm and to storage facilities. Work duties also include daily repairs and maintenance to equipment, machinery, and buildings; maintaining the worksite and equipment; cleaning the shop location and equipment; grain cleanup in and around grain facilities; working with levee gates; and maintenance and repair work on all trucks, tractors, graineries, and motors including checking levels of substances required for equipment operation such as oil and coolant, inspecting for damage wear or leaks, and replacing old or failing parts. Irrigation work will be required which includes but is not limited to irrigation motor setup, pipe plumbing, rolling out irrigation pipe, punching water holes and vents plus minor shovel work, cleaning irrigation ventilation screens, checking motor oil levels, replacing broken or failing parts, checking for leaks, checking pumps and valves, driving equipment to roll out piping, and connecting piping to pumps. Employees may have to work nights and possibly weekends. There are few typical days and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and engage in various general functions. Daily duties may vary depending on crop, weather, and field conditions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
Special Requirements
General farm labor that would be expected on an American farming operation. Extreme temperatures refers to our general mid-late summer weather conditions of the central southern US, which is generally humid and sometimes 90+ degrees Fahrenheit. Employees must be able to lift 75 pounds. Job requires having or being able to obtain a drivers license within 30 days of hire. Basic English literacy and math skills are required.
